Permanence, Sustainability and Future Programs
This program, which is currently being developed with the support of Colombia’s Government, seeks that the small coffee growers increase and stabilize their incomes derived from coffee. Its purpose is to renovate in approximately five years, 300 thousand hectares of traditional coffee crops planted with an obsolete technology.
The program operates through disbursed credits to the smaller coffee growers who posses either Coffee Growers' ID’s or Cards. The maximum credit is of $ 4.5000.000 pesos per hectare renewed. The minimum a coffee grower can renew is 0.2 hectares or the equi
valent of 1,000 coffee plants, and the maximum is 1.5 hectares which correspond to an equivalent 7,500 plants.
The program permits the producers to pay the primary materials for the installation of the crop nurseries and receive money or the sustainment of their family, while the renovated area begins its productive cycle.
Coffee growers that participate in the program count on the benefits of the Rural Capitalization Incentive (ICR, for its initials in Spanish) for up to 40% of the capital and the support of the National Coffee Fund that covers the total income that is generated by the credits.
In the same way, coffee growers can count on the support of the National Financial Agrarian Guarantee Fund (FAG - for its initials in Spanish), the National Guarantee Fund (Fogacafé), and the partnership of the Extension Service.
This not only contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of coffee growers and their families but also assures that coffee growers become further attached to their farms and the productivity of their coffee plants.
Please consult the nearest Extension Service and/or Coffee Growers Committee in order to receiver further information in regards to the requirements and forms of access to this program.
Program to Enhance Competiveness in the Coffee Industry
