More than 500 coffee growers from the municipalities of Timbio, Popayán and El Tambo gathered at the headquarters of the FNC´s Departmental Coffee Growers Committee of Cauca to exhibit the agricultural products produced in their home orchards and provide tastings of traditional Caucan and Colombian recipes.

All coffee growers who participated in the food security fair are beneficiaries of the Nutrition and Food Security component of the FNC led Forestry as an Alternative Means of Production-KfW program. Besides sharing the diversity of their products, attendants demonstrated the good practices implemented by them and their families while handling their agricultural products.

Forestry as an Alternative Means of Production´s Nutrition and Food Security component –which provides technical and social assistance to 349 coffee growing families–, foments environmental protection by encouraging the area´s inhabitants to plant pines, eucalyptus, and walnut.

Additionally, the program reaches six educational institutions located in the municipality of Tambo, which besides providing training in healthy hygiene and home orchard management, also offer parent schooling.
