We investigate for...

Our research agenda has at its core coffee growers, their families, their environment, and the quality of our product. We firmly believe that in order for our business to remain sustainable we need to fully understand our crops and their environment, the plagues and diseases that can affect our crops, and the cultural practices and processes that affect our harvests and the quality of our coffee. It is for this reason that we look to the relevant basic and applied sciences on behalf of coffee growers.

The Colombian coffee growers count on the National Center for Coffee Research (Cenicafé), which is responsible for carrying-out the activities of the Program of Scientific Research of the FNC. Throughout more than 70 years, Cenicafé has worked  to generate knowledge, technology, and innovations that contribute to the competitiveness, profitability, and sustainability of the Colombian coffee growers.

Our multidisciplinary team of researchers is in charge of transmitting new knowledge in seven different strategic areas: Agrarian Productivity, Economic Viability, Quality and Special Coffees, Environmental Sustainability, Strategic Knowledge, Complementary Production Systems, Disclosure and Transmittance of Information.

On this page you will find the most representative accomplishments from the launching of new improved coffee varieties, technology destined to reduce the costs associated with the recollection, integrated management of plagues, the benefits of coffee, and all the research related to the coffee genome.
