President of Dunkin’ Brands Acknowledges Quality and Consistency of Colombian Coffee

Bogota, December 05 2014 (FNC Press)–Nigel Travis, President of Dunkin’ Brands, argued that the quality, consistency and supply reliability of Colombian coffee are some of the attributes that Dunkin’ values the most. “We are delighted with the quality of Colombian coffee; the consistent quality that Colombia has maintained over the years has been key for its success,” stated Travis at the LXXX National Congress of Coffee Growers.

Travis began by presenting an overview of the global presence and growth opportunities of Dunkin’. He then referred to the implications on growth posed by the new generation of consumers between the ages of 18 and 34 –known as “millennials” – to the American industry.

In 2014, Dunkin’ launched its 100% Colombian roasted coffee offering. Travis referred to the coffee’s success and said that the company is considering the possibility of selling it in supermarkets. In reference to the presence of Dunkin’ in Colombia, Travis noted that, in the coming years, more stores are expected to open in addition to the existing 173 that are operating throughout the country.

Travis was briefed on how the development of cutting edge technologies in Colombia has led to several promising sustainability initiatives, including substantial water savings during coffee processing. He pointed out that the importance of sustainability is increasing by the minute and encouraged Colombian growers to continue working towards sustainable coffee growing.
