Everything is ready for the 76th National Congress of Coffee Growers

The President of Colombia will install the 76th Coffee Congress –the topmost authority in coffee matters- in Bogotá. It will take place between November 30 and December 2 at the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation headoffice.

The most important event in the coffee sector, gathering 120 delegates democratically elected by the country’s coffee growers, has the central goal of reporting on the results and progress made by different programs carried out in the last year by the Federation, the 15 Coffee Growers Departmental Committees and other entities that belong to the organization.

Likewise, priorities and necessities of the sector will be analyzed; policies and programs for the year 2012 will be defined regarding productive, technical, economic, social, commercial and marketing initiatives.

Some of the highlights in the Congress are Climate Change and its influence in coffee agriculture, the harsh rain season that strikes the country and the recovery of national production among others.

As is traditional, the congress will feature, besides the representatives from all 15 Departmental Committees of Coffee Growers and its Executive Directors, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Juan Camilo Restrepo, the Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Juan Carlos Echeverri, and the Director of the National Planning Department, Hernando José Gómez.
